### Me ###
I am a professor in Software Engineering and Computing Education Research at the University of Jyväskylä. My career has spanned a variety of roles, including a professor in adult education/big data learning analytics at the University of Helsinki, an assistant professor in software engineering at Tampere University of Technology, and a visiting scholar at Stanford University. Complementing my academic pursuits, I have garnered practical experience, for example, as a software engineer in test at Google, working in both Ireland and Switzerland and from a few startups.
### Research interests ###
In today's digital age, much of our learning and professional work occurs online, where both professionals and learners engage in tasks and receive automated feedback. As a computer and educational scientist, I find the increasing digital footprint to be a treasure trove of information, offering insights into technological innovations and their impacts.
My research is driven by three core themes: First, the creation of innovative technology to enhance programming and programming education. Second, analyzing digital footprints to understand human behavior (educational data mining). Third, investigating the societal impact of online learning, focusing on how it democratizes education and transforms knowledge sharing.
